Forced selling near the price

Crash risk

If the price drops 5%, how much selling is forced? We read seven numbers from real positions, funding, options and liquidations and rank each one against its own history. Two of them measure the same thing, longs close to liquidation, so they count once together, and the dial is the average of the six parts: 0 is the least forced selling we have seen stacked near the price, 100 the most.

Not the same as the crowd's mood. CROWD//MOOD reads how traders feel. This reads the plumbing: how much has to be sold if the price falls. A greedy crowd with little leverage scores low here. A scared crowd sitting on leveraged longs scores high.

A reading, not a forecast. It says how much fuel sits near the price, not whether anything lights it. It is not a trading signal and not a call on where the price goes next.

How the dial is made

Each part is ranked against its own past. A score of 70 means the part reads higher than 70% of the readings we have recorded for it on this coin, hour by hour. Ties count half. A part has no score until it has enough history, and the table says how much it has.

Every score points the same way. Higher always means more selling that could be forced near the price: more longs close to liquidation, more of them a 5% fall would reach, a more one-sided book, dearer funding, pricier puts, a jumpier week ahead in the options, more liquidations already under way.

The dial is a plain average. Every scored part counts the same. No weights, no fitting.

Track record coming

There is no crash in our record yet. We started recording these numbers in late September 2026, so we cannot show you yet how the dial read before a big drop. Until we can, treat it as a reading of the plumbing, never a prediction. We are building the history of the October 2025 crash to test it against, and the result goes on this page when it's in.

The history is short

We record these numbers every hour. A rank against a few days of history moves more than one against a year, so each part says how much history it has.

Whose positions

Three of the seven readings come from the largest Hyperliquid accounts, read every hour. Other exchanges don't publish positions, so their share of the 5% figure is estimated from Hyperliquid's own pattern and marked est. Options come from Deribit (Bitcoin and Ether only), liquidations from OKX's public feed, which is a sample.
